Memorable Movie Scenes: Ong Bak
Probably one of the best if not THE BEST movie chase scenes of all time.
Ong Bak was released in 2003. It's a Thai movie with Subtitles. The movie itself is absolutely packed with Tong Long Kung Fu or Muay Thai style Martial Arts (it looks like Tong Long but the website says Muay Thai...). The story follows the main character Ting in his search for the head of his little remote village's most cherished relic Ong Bak. Now I'm just gonna say this movie is very good and I'm not very good at explaining little details, just telling stories of my own, so if you haven't seen it yet make sure you check out the Trailer below.
So I thought all the chase scenes were pretty impressive. The running chase scene is the most memorable one and the reason for the post. It's great for a number of reasons, one of them being that this part is entirely on foot and it provides a lot of contrast with reality as Hum Lae (George) struggles to keep up. It gets me excited everytime. Jump. Duck. Slide. Spin. I can't do that. It's fun trying to imagine and I just ignore the fact that I can't. 5 minutes of whoah...
I think this movie is great. It's full of little things that a great for a giggle. If you are lucky enough to rent or own a copy make sure you watch the out-takes. They are just as good and funny. Everytime I go to watch it I actullay forget it's in subtitles. I'm not really aware of a copy that is dubbed in English. Give it a chance though. Maybe you will like it too.
