Drax4Kids

What an awesome birthday party!

I'm still falling behind in everything I do, so it looks like I'm just going to have to piece the day together for you in hope that maybe it makes some sense. If not it will have to fall into edit multiple times like the rest of my other posts. Bear with me.

Anyways, one of my 100 kids turned 11 on Saturday. He is a powerful monster and I aimed to please him this year with a children's party at Dracula's Castle. If you do the same, you should book ahead, especially if you want a cake. I also sent out some invitations a few weeks prior so we could try fill all the seats. We wanted a good turn out and I was very clear to the parents that I was hoping for the kiddies to dress in scary theme.

We hired a mini bus. I think the first two hours of the morning we were just picking up monsters. It was pretty good. I chose the rental on the blind thinking I was going to get a rickety old manual geared bus but it was clean and fully functional with all the stuff you need for any possible comfort for a long drive.

Once there you have to wait outside in a big line, some of the way in to the carpark. When I pull up a werewolf asks me to not run anyone over. I tell him that I wont run anyone over who isn't already dead.

After you get inside, the areas that are open are limited compared to the evening show (not that I have been... yet). I wont be posting them here because you should really see it for yourself. A ghost train takes you on through to the theatre.

Its borderline cramped in there but we fit ok. There's treats waiting for the monsterlings as we walk in. Soft drink is unlimited so look out for that sugar rush. I would have to say the only real disappointment is that I would of liked to of seen an extra platter of party food or maybe more snacks. No one said they were left hungry (probably because they were full of soft drink) but us adults didn't eat much so the kids would have enough. We did order the adult platter though (another $20), which was OK. We had a few high school kids in our group and I was worried about them but they seemed happy. Maybe pack some water bottles and snacks for the way home. We did ok without this though even with no stops on the way back.

If there are any birthdays they announce them nice and early and the entire room sings it and out of tune. I found it hilarious because it just seemed to fit perfectly. The cakes look amazing but we didn't order one. I wasn't aware we could bring our own either. That's probably what I would of done differently. Birthday kids are the focus for any party games and entertainment. That was excellent and I got mummapride when that happened.

Remember, no photography!

I had a laugh along too I found some of the entertainment quite funny but I couldn't wait to go home. It's a huge thing to try pull off.

So, onward I left with many monsters in tow (once I could get them out of the souvenir shop). Im glad I brought a friend. It was a long drive home with a bus full of woopie cushions blaring like crazy and controlling all those gel eyeballs from the take home party bags, which were being rubbed all over the bus windows.

I slept like a rock that night. No regrets though. It was still good.

Overall

Drax4Kids was reasonably good value for money, per kid, seeing that 10 tickets gets us two free adults entries.

The age groups are open and our group varied between 9 and 13 years of age. I recommend those ages as a good fit and I would only recommend younger children if your monsters are already dying for it.

I would go again but definitely not yet. We have our next birthday planned in July for elsewhere. You are just going to have to wait and see where though. I'm not saying this time.
