Brain Training : Cambridge Brain Sciences
Brain.... feels.... like.... mush.....
must.... remember.... to...
uhm....
Do you ever feel like you are having 'one of those moments' and too often?
I do, and all the time. In fact, last weekend I decided to ditch study with Uni for the rest of this session and I'm taking a years' leave. It's just not in me.
I just haven't got it.
Anyways, I feel awesome. I'm having second thoughts about it but it's way too late for that. I've withdrawn from all four units and I've submitted my leave. I couldn't get back in if I tried. I just gotta let it go now.
It's not too late to do something else with my brain, though. I have a bogus account with Cambridge Brain Sciences (no one really cares what my real name is anyway) and I began checking out the mini tests there. I thought I would do alright but uhm..... that wasn't exactly the case.
Theres a small handful you can try before registering an account but I recommend you go right ahead and register and start tracking your progress, that is, if you are in to that sort of thing. I have finally accepted the fact that it's not there to make me feel smart or dumb, but to help me realise that with a little brain training I could obviously be better, and oh jeez, I really hope so. There was a few there that I definitely would like to improve on.
Surprisingly, if the tests are any indication I don't seem to get the same low test scores that people with Alzheimers do. That's me trying to look for positives. Pretty good, huh?
If you do create an account you will have access to 14 tests you can complete. Trust me, the more you do them, the better you get. You can also take the 'IQ challenge'. The Challenge will whip you right on through those tests and let you know how you went overall. Make sure you try out all the tests before you start though, as some of them are less straight forward than others. I admit, there was one there I didn't even get straight away. Something like that would of course affect your test scores.
So, yeh, read the instructions and skill up on the ones you feel really confident on. It will help you feel better about it all when you get to the ones which are a bit trickier and you might wish you had a better score. With a new account, I try not to let the top scores get to me. I was quite happy to make the average or 50% mark if I can.
I tried seeing if they had an App but they don't, not for Cambridge. I am aware though that there is quite a few by other companies and designers which are similar. I like this one though. It's just the one I want. I would of liked to have an App to download on to my phone so that maybe I could fiddle with it when I have a minute here and there. It could be better than web searching all those random things that pop in to my head or reading and responding to emails when they can always wait till later.
If you are keen, create and account and have a go. If you aren't sure maybe try out the ones you don't need an account to access. If you aren't interested at all, well, you will save yourself a whole bunch of time by not doing them, but you don't need me to tell you that.
*yawn*. I'm still so tired. When does this feeling pass?
Have fun.
