Killen Falls
Ok. So I got through the last psycho fortnight, I took the extra work home and actually did it this time and I had a good go at wrapping things up. I've now been paid for it all too, started my 8-4's and moved on. Hmmm... what to do now? Clean that explosion of breadcrumbs and random items in the car? Scrub the shower? Clean the garage? What about all that other 'stuff'? None of those options sound appealing to me but I guess they will need to be done.
I'm few hours short of sleep.... ok... a lot, but I'm doing ok and I have been sleeping more. I still like to go out though (when Im not staying home and enjoying that immensely too). I'm looking forward to the next adventure, because there's always time for just one more. In fact, even during an intense working week it's still important to me. Ya' just gotta fit these things in. Y'see, I'm not sure what the point of working is if there's nothing else to life.
SO... WE, that is 'us', my little team, we decided to head on out to some falls over the weekend and decided on Killen Falls. Killen Falls is pretty nice, especially if you have a bunch of little kid-lings. If you haven't had a look yet maybe you should. Lucky for us it's only 15mins away. Depending on what you are feeling up to you can loiter at the top and stick to the basic accessible areas or you can head on down right to the bottom.
To get there you gotta head on down to Killen Falls Drive, via Friday Hut Rd. It's located nearby the same place as Emigrant Creek and Dam. They have a carpark there that isn't overcrowded and the whole area is reasonably well kept. Check out the damn too while you are there.
This could be your only hint that you are going the right way..... It's paved and reasonable for access all the way to the look out point.
It's worth your while if you go past the lookout platform in to the scrub, go bush and climb down. There's even some wildlife around. Look some duckies (QUACK)!
It's pretty cool down the bottom including shallow areas, including that cool bit behind the waterfall...
....and some cave like areas. According to these little explorers there's a bear or something with a bum and claws hanging out of a small cave down the end. I didn't look. Sometimes the mysteries and legends are a little more exciting than real life.
I admit, I was a bit exhausted going back up. The lack of sleep left me a bit challenged there but it's not too bad. You don't need a lot of energy to get back up. If I can make it you can too. It's about a minute up, if you need to know. No biggie. If it still sounds like too much and just want to cruise it, you can go to the look out then come back, cross the car pack and check out the damn. Plenty to look at. EASY.
So that's Killen Falls. Have a look yourself. Special thanks to 'C' for reminding me what an awesome waterfall it is because we finally went on down there, and together.
Enjoy
