Chocolate: How depressing

I was thinking about what I was going to write about today. I normally write about what I'm stuck on at any moment. It's just easier like that. It has been kind of hard to describe this week though, other than maybe chaotic, so it was hard to pick a singular topic. Not everything went wrong it was just a bit harder than usual.

I've been battling a blocked sink, a lack of ability to keep up with everything and I'm rather annoyed that my voice this week sounds like one of those squeaky dog chew toys. It gets worse every day. Do you ever get that? Tell me you know what I mean.

Amongst this, I've taken some intrigue and decided to become fascinated about the impact of chocolate.

Yes. It's time to blame chocolate. Don't worry. It'll be ok.

There's probably stacks of different things I could mention about chocolate but at this blog I'm making an effort to write about maybe the less commonly known things.

Does chocolate cause depression, anxiety or general feelings of melancholy?

You might be thinking ...'hang on... I thought eating chocolate helped release endorphins? Y'know those little chemicals that your body releases to make your brain feel good?' The answer is of course, yes, but cigarettes can also trigger endorphins and we know how bad they are for us, don't we? Not every short cut to paradise lands you there.

Even though chocolate can lift a mood, theres a high correlation between people who eat a lot of chocolate and feel depressed. This suggests that chocolate is not only failing to cure your depression but studies even suggest that chocolate has also been lowering your mood. Oh darn.

I had a pretty bad binge on Saturday. It could be the chocolate, or the sugar itself or even what led me to binge in the first place but in a general sense I feel a bit low this week, that's for sure. Maybe I had a massive sugar high and fell in to a low? I don't know but I'm not happy about it and you can imagine the feelings of self consciousness that have already swept in. A woman can only eat so much chocolate without image repercussions.

In response, fact or fiction, I still won't be cutting chocolate out of my life altogether. It's not necessary. However, next time I want to binge my way back to eating again I will have this yucky feeling to remember. Maybe I will choose something else? Maybe I could even buy less.

A little was very good. A lot has brought despair.

Hmmm.... either that or this blocked drain really is the end of me..... It really is giving me the shits.

Enjoy your free flowing drains everyone. Enjoy your drains which are not packed tight with food that nobody put there.

*sigh*

Do what you like with your chocolate. Take heed of what I say though.... lest it might be true.........
