Draculas Cabaret Restaurant
Dinner and a show to die for?
-
Well... after going to the Haunted House earlier this year and then the Children's Show/party I had been pretty pumped to at least check the evening one out. When it comes to Cabaret I just love the dinner and show idea. I wish more places did it. I of course had to go check it out.
At only an extra $25/pp we went VIP. We didn't just get this souvenir necklace out of it as a momento to keep but we also pretty much went straight in when we got there while an hour later people were still lining up outside. Upon entry there we was also some canapés set out for us and a glass of bubbly. Given the extra time we were free to look around a bit before being shown our seat.
Those nibbly canapés were pretty darn good.
I thought we had a bit more time but to my surprise they had told us they were ready to show us to our tables. You must travel on the ghost train to get there after you get your group photo taken. Unfortunately I was not prepared. For WHS reason you cannot bring your drink on the train and I found myself having to tip the last two of three drink recently provided to me down my throat. That was alright but quite fizzy.
I loved my group photo. It now has joined the other two on my wall. I'll have to get round to mass producing them so all my guests can have one too. They are $22 each but I'm pretty sure that Kmart will make copies for about $4-8... can't remember...
I did take some photos of the seating arrangement but they came out blurry... maybe you will have to check it out for yourself? I thought we might be at a table together but we were spread out facing the show sitting side by side.
Not long after seated we were brought our entrees. That was really good!! We then placed our order from the mains to choose from. Meanwhile people in ghastly costumes sang us songs to pass the time until everyone who had been in line outside had finally arrived and been seated.
There's time to kill but it goes quickly. We were in a large group too so we bought drinks at the bar rather than at the table. Dracs has all kinds of things in the walls, corners and floor to stickybeak at, including at the bar. There's bound to be something that makes you smile. The staff are friendly and hillarious. They do have a creepy theme though so if you don't mind people popping up suddenly from places and the odd weirdo it's an overall enjoyable theme.
The dessert was my favourite part... I'd been waiting all year for that.
The show caters for a very broad taste. Be warned it gets a bit skimpy at times. I've been told that someone actually saw a guys dick too but the lights were out. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that it was full nudity for that moment and not partial as advertised (skimpy covered) because I would of liked to have given my friends the 'head up'. I don't know if they cared or not but seeing that I'm not really in to that sort of thing I felt it would of been nice to tell them. Might I add though, the whole show is absolutely not like that. Draculas is no strip bar. If you can get past the scene that gives you discomfort the night can be quite enjoyable. If I can get past it I'm sure you can too. There's lots of other fun and musical things that entertain.
On the same note Dracs evening Cabaret is MA15+ and you won't see a whole bunch of things in the general public that you will at Dracs. The large smokers balcony (there's two) hosts some pro graffiti. It's very encouraging for the poison of your choice with themes that indicate that smoking is actually good for you and white chalk outlines where bodies have been removed from the floor.

Draculas Castle is at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast by the remodelled Pacific Fair. Parking can get pretty crazy there so I insist you car pool or get someone else to drop you off.

Would I go to Draculas again?
Well they change the theme often, it's expensive and I'd prefer to go in a group. I reckon I'd go probably again in a couple years time but not too soon. I really enjoyed it. I laughed and I had fun.

It's not for everyone but I think you'd be surprised how enjoyable it can be. If your not sure if it's for you, ask around and find some people you know that have already been and ask them about it. I did before I made plans and I got a lot of feedback before I booked. that's how it was done!

Now I'm done too. Here I am posting from my mobile with the battery running flat.
