Memorable Movie Scenes: Pet Semetary II

I had a nice relaxing weekend... except the bit where I had to play 'grave digger'. Yep. No dodgy body dump for me today or botched up river send off/farewell. I did the urban family thing that everyone else seems to do when a beloved pet dies. I'm all for cremation but...... *sigh* it's just not one of those times I can have it my way.

Anyways, I'm there digging, which I guess people do when they actually have a shovel. When I'm not thinking about the fact that I didn't 'dial before I dig' I'm thinking about how lazy I am and how much I have to tell myself that I need to dig a deeper hole. Every tree root looks like a cable to me and I'm dying to stop. I had to choose a different spot of course. There's obviously a reason people don't dig under trees. Even metres away the bright red tree roots that happen turn out to not be cables are still thick and discouraging. I noticed I get sidetracked when I'm discouraged and then I think about all sorts of barely related things. I think about the repurcussions of doing a dodgy job and imagine doing a half assed job and using lots of heavy stones to cover the site instead. It's only a good idea if you actually dig and bury first and it didn't turn out so well in 'Pet Semetary II'. Creepy.

It's been ages since I have seen it but if I remember right the kids in the movie end up right at the back of the Pet Cemetery and bury a dog Indian Burial Ground there. There you cant really dig so they spent until dark piling rocks on top of him. The dog Zowie comes back to life, the rest of the family take him back in suspecting nothing. Only the main characters, those kids, Jeff and Drew know whats going on and the movie gets creepier by the minute from there. Too creepy for me. I'm pretty sure I only watched the whole things to its completeness only once before. I like to finish things.

Here's the movie trailer from back then.

As old and outdated this movie is .... and of course how much older I am now compared to when I first saw this movie, it still creeps me out. My stomach turns just thinking about it. There's a progression of events which leads to Gus, Drew's step dad being fatally attacked by Zowie. He's already a jerk in the movie but they bring him back to life anyway and this is where my stomach turns. Gus comes home, the boys are still the only ones that know and .......bleh, I'm feeling sickened. The stuff kids get up to these days?

I'm more into suspense and thrillers with a little bit of action but... here's my most memorable movie scene from Pet Semetary II. I'll never forget it. In the following scene Jeff is in an isolated area being bullied by a kid from school. Gus enters the scene but by then he has already died and has come back as ...a zombie I guess. Again, after this movie just goes downhill in my discomfort from there. Here's that scene.

So that's a taste of Pet Semetary. Super Creepy but it's a cult classic for the Zombie Lovers. What's that you say? You thought I liked zombies? Yeh... I like them in the movies where they aren't scaring the hell out of me through the whole movie and I don't have to wait until the end just to breath normal again. I like it when we fight back... not when I feel like it's hopeless. That's a terrible feeling and this movie made me feel hopeless and afraid as a teen.

Anyways.... back to reality..... I dug a good hole. In a very normal spot and it was all over in a shorter time than I actually thought it was. I'm not comfortable with death and bodies but I pushed through it and now I can at least spend some time mourning instead of fighting creepy animal zombies. You must think I'm crazy....

If you wanna watch the whole movie and stop wondering how weak I am you can watch the whole movie here (while the link is still active) or you can track a copy of the movie or the book down on Ebay. It's called Pet Semetary II (no it's not my spelling). You might as well get the first one too while your at it. The first one is written by Stephen King.....

Watch and enjoy.... or enjoy not watching it.

Whatever it is that you choose, for whatever reason you do...

Until next time.......
